The Board of ROMAC
Geoff Dainty - Chairman
Geoff Dainty is a professional civil engineer and property investor. He
joined the Rotary Club of New Lynn in 1983 and has served as District
Governor of D9910 in 1997-98 and again in 1998-99. Geoff helped
establish ROMAC in New Zealand. He has been involved with a number of
humanitarian projects in the South Pacific and is currently Chairperson
of the City-West Auckland Life Education Trust. Geoff lives in
Auckland, NZ, is married to Jenny and they have two children.
Ian Wright - Vice Chairman
Ian was born in England and came to Australia in 1980 and settled in Perth. He joined Rotary in 1984 and was charter president of Midland Club in 1985-1986. He is now with the RC of Darling Range. Ian became District Governor of D9470 in 2001-2002 which is when he started to become involved in ROMAC, and very soon introduced the program into WA. From 2003-6 he was Western Region Chairman, and became Board Chairman on 1 July 2007.
Richard Groom- Secretary
Richard Groom, Board secretary from July 1 in 2009, joined Rotary in 1990. A multiple Paul Harris fellow, he has been involved with D9800 ROMAC since 2002-03 and has acted as Southern Region ROMAC secretary for the last 4 years.
Brian Eddy - Treasurer
Brian is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Rossmoyne and has served on numerous occasions as the Director of various portfolios. He has also served on District 9470 Group Study Exchange committee and been involved in arranging and running two District Conferences.
Fred Jureidini - Medical Director
Fred Jureidini has been appointed as the ROMAC Medical Director from 1 July 2009. He has been a children's kidney specialist in Adelaide since 1977. He now works part time in this area and concentrates on teaching, rural and remote Aboriginal health using video conferencing and more recently hypnotherapy. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Prospect.
Richard Woodburn - Operations Director
Richard Woodburn is a Civil Engineer and joined Rotary in 1978. He was
President of the Rotary Club of Parkes, NSW 2001-02, and an ADG in
D9700 2002-05. He is now with RC of Randwick in District 9750. Richard
was the ROMAC Board Secretary from 2004 to 2008 and is also active in
patient support through the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick.

Phil Rosenberg - Marketing Director
Phil joined the RC of Kowloon in Hong Kong in 1987 and, after leaving Hong Kong in 1995, moved to the Gold Coast where he joined what is now the RC of Gold Coast Central. The club president there, Stan Shneider, had 'brought' ROMAC to Queensland. Phil was so impressed and inspired by the work of Stan and ROMAC that he became more and more involved so that he is now Marketing Director.
Jill Ellis - Fundraising Director
Jill took on the role of Chairman of the D9640 ROMAC Committee for a three year term and in July 2007 was appointed as Secretary of the ROMAC Northern Region. Jill was ROMAC Board Secretary for the 08/09 year and has taken on the role of Fund Raising Director from 1 July 2009. She is also editor of the 'Reflections' Newsletter and was awarded a PHF in 2006.
John Benger - Southern Region Director
John is a member of the Rotary Club of Richmond and is a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Member of the National Institute of Accountants. John is now semi retired after a career that included national and international management roles mainly in high tech companies. His other interests are golf, travel and family.
Bill Benham - Northern Region Director
Bill Benham joined RC of Woolloongabba in 1991 and was President of the Club in 1995-96. In 1997 Bill joined RC of Port of Brisbane, was awarded a PHF in 2000 and was President of the Club in 2004-2005. Bill's involvement in ROMAC commenced in 1999, he was D9630 Chairman for ROMAC in 2001 -2004. Bill is now Northern Region Director.
Eric Horne - New Zealand Director
Eric Horne, a Scotsman by birth, has led a varied life. Born in 1944, married in 1968, he immediately set off to work as a doctor in an African mission hospital. Having arrived in New Zealand in 1987, he proceeded to set up a large medical practice establishment. Eric has been involved with ROMAC NZ since its inception.
Dick Milner - Central Region Director
Dick came to South Australia from the U.K.
in 1966. He joined Rotary in 1975 as a charter member of The Rotary Club of Tea
Tree Gully and was District Governor of D9500 in 1988-89. He was the charter
president of his current club Gawler Light in 1997 and received a Service Above
Self award a couple of years later.
Bob Richards - Eastern Region Director
After Bob Richards came to Australia in 1979 he joined RC of Sutherland in 1986 becoming its president in 1991-92. He has served on several D9750 Committees and as Assistant Governor. He was District Governor in the centennial year, 2004-05 and featured ROMAC at his District Conference with patron Max Walker as a major speaker. Bob joined the ROMAC Board on 01 July 2007.
Joan Varian - Western Region Director
Joan Varian has enjoyed a 49 year career in nursing. Her Rotary commitment has included being President of two Rotary Clubs - Cottesloe and Hillarys. Her committee work has included Youth Exchange, Group Study Exchange and a Japanese Short Term Exchange. Joan has also lead a 30 day Youth Exchange tour across Australia and a team of ten young Australians to Japan.
