Our Patrons
Quentin Bryce - Patron in Chief
Quentin Bryce was one of the first women accepted to the Queensland bar. In 1968 she became the first woman to be a faculty member of the Law school where she had studied. She was appointed Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner in 1988.
Her services to the community saw her appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1988, and as a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2003.
Bryce was appointed as the Governor of Queensland in 2003. Her five year term was to be extended until 2009. However, on 13 April 2008 it was announced that Bryce was to become the next Governor-General of Australia. On 5 September 2008 Bryce was sworn in becoming the first woman to be the Governor-General.
Max Walker - Australian Patron
One of the most loved and respected Australian personalities Max gladly accepted the role of National Patron.
He is a voluminous writer of books, many with cricket anecdotes, many with humour. He is very prominent all around Australia on the speakers' circuit whether as guest speaker or function MC.
He made his name in the 1970s as a multi-faceted sportsman playing 93 games of AFL for the Melbourne club and playing 34 Tests for Australia.
His motto is simple: "If you can, you must".
In his role as Patron, Max has had first hand experience with many of ROMAC's children and speaks with heartfelt emotion at many ROMAC Conferences.
We are delighted to have the support of this great Australian.
